Guides: How to retrieve data from a failed hard disk?
Disk Doctors Photo Recovery (Mac) Software provides easy to use interface that helps you to retrieve lost data in simple steps. Please follow the steps below to retrieve data from local hard disk or external hard disk on Mac.
Step 1. Run photo recovery software.
Run Disk Doctors Photo Recovery for Mac software, by double clicking on application icon from the 'Applications' folder or the location where the software has been installed. Program main Window will be displayed as shown in the Figure (a).

Step 2. Choose file types.
Select the hard disk which you want to retrieve from and click on "Next" button to proceed. The program displays a Window to select file types that you wish to retrieve.
By default all the file types will be selected. Click on "Deselect all" button and select those file formats which you wish to recover and click on "Recover" button as shown in Figure (b).

Step 3.
Scan data on failed hard disk.
Once you have opened the hard disk and selected the file formats, application starts scanning your selected drive as shown in Figure (c). Please wait till the process is completed.

As soon as the application completes the scanning process, the recovered data/file will be analysed and displayed in a well organized data tree as shown in Figure (d).

Step 4. Save data from failed hard disk to Mac.
You can now save the recovered data in order to complete recovery process. Select the files you wish to save and click on save button.
Specify a safe location to initiate saving process. Shown in Figure (e).

Please Note: In order to save your recovered data, you need to purchase and activate the full version. Saving option will not work in demo version.
It might take a while depending on the size of the failed hard disk. The bigger it is, the longer it will take to complete scanning. As long as you do not take any more data on the disk, you are able to get all the files back. The concept is actually the same as recovering photos off a formatted hard drive on Mac.
